Sustainable from idea to pattern to branding and packaging. Stax is a locally-made hanging modular organizer. Designed-for-disassembly, it is 90% compostable and 10% re-useable or recyclable.
Stax is the result of a 13 week research-creation project focused on ethical design for at-risk and unhoused people in Montreal. It was designed with the experiences of people transitioning to housing after experiencing houselessness in mind. This transition can often feel isolating, as it focusses on providing the "bare necessities" while overlooking comfort and beauty as essential benefits to physical and emotional health and wellbeing. Inspired by the cosiness behind the nordic concept of hygge (which promotes social, emotional, and community wellbeing), Stax is high-quality, functional, beautiful, luxurious, and accessible.
Stax were sold at a pop-up event at Concordia University in April 2022 with other participating groups. All proceeds were donated directly to local nonprofits that work to provide warmth, shelter, and services to those that need it most.
